Job Title: Veterinary Medical Director

TAHO is a non-profit animal welfare organization with a focus on accessible/affordable high quality medical care. Our new/state-of-the-art hospital is fast-paced and high-volume. Our services include high-volume spay/neuter, routine wellness, urgent/emergency care, dental care and surgery, radiology (including dental), in-house diagnostics, general and emergency surgery, 24 hour inpatient care/hospitalization, end-of-life care/hospice and euthanasia, and more. It is our mission to ensure no animal goes without the medical care they require and deserve, regardless of the family’s financial situation.

Who we are looking for
A strong and supportive leadership team is essential to our success and our abilities to continue to provide high quality and affordable medical care to our communities. Our medical director is responsible for the oversight and management of all veterinary care provided by our organization, including management of associate veterinarians. We strive for professional and medical excellence - our MD is focused on sustaining, evaluating, and improving our overall, top-of-the-line, veterinary medical care to ensure we are always performing at the highest level possible.
The MD functions as a pillar of professionalism and leads by example, constantly demonstrating and encouraging a positive and productive working environment and team work.
In addition to leadership responsibilities, the MD functions in either a full-time medical or surgical role. This role will be discussed and newly hired MD will be permitted to choose between outpatient medical care or surgery as an area of practice; however, MD candidates must be willing to cross train in all departments to ensure familiarity with all TAHO operations and be able to step into any role as may be periodically required.
Works very closely with, and provides management and leadership to, all associate veterinarians. Works closely with veterinary technicians and assistants.
Works in partnership with the Executive Director, Hospital Manager, and Clinical Supervisors to lead and manage a positive and productive team.
Works in partnership with the Executive Director to maintain and develop new protocols or SOPs to ensure we continue to improve and provide the highest level of medical and client care possible.

The offices and operations of a high-volume veterinary hospital can be high stress and very busy at times. The schedule can vary.
Experience Level: Five + years of practice as a DVM; Experience in leading/managing a successful veterinary team; Experience in all departments (outpatient; inpatient; surgery)
Education: DVM or Equivalent
Hours: Schedule will be dependent on the department chosen for practice (Outpatient/Medical vs Surgery)
Salary: Competitive; Commensurate With Experience, Negotiable
